This mixed media piece was a joyful meditation to create. She started with a black ink drawing, then watercolrs were used to fill in shapes, adterwards I applied cut, melted pieces of plastic made from the colorful wrappers of menstrual products. When I look at her I see a female listening to the meanings of dreams coming from a spiral shape.
A painter of acrylic, oil, and/or mixed media, themes of feminine beauty, strength, and power have always been prevalent in Lisa’s art. Since embracing motherhood in the 90’s, the wonder of womanhood has become an even more essential part of her current pieces.
The use of bright colors and ever apparent orbs, dots, circles, and bright colors all symbolize life and joy. Universal themes of spirituality, sensuality, and beauty are expressed in her work.
